Abstract
This paper studies the unique intervention on the aesthetics of music at the First National Congress of Philosophy held in Mendoza (Argentina) in 1949, presented by Mario García Acevedo. It also considers the possible resonances in the musical field of Luis Juan Guerrero’s ideas, presented during the same event, referring to a general aesthetics inserted in contemporary thought. The tensions between the categories of tradition, historicity, formalism, individualism, community, nationalism, and cosmopolitanism concerning music, expressed in these texts are observed within the historical-cultural framework of Juan Perón’s first government.
