Richard Sturgeon was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1953. He developed his artistic training in the workshops of renowned artists Aníbal Carreño and Carlos Gorriarena, furthering his studies at the American Academy of Art in Paris. Since 1986, he has participated in a wide variety of solo and group exhibitions both in Argentina and abroad, with notable presentations at the Elsi del Rio Gallery, Isabel Anchorena Gallery, La Línea Piensa, Van Riel Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art in 1995, and his retrospective exhibition at the Recoleta Cultural Center in 2000. Throughout his career, he has been awarded the Grand Prize of Honor at the National Painting Salon and the First Prize at the National Salon. His accolades also include the Costantini Collection Award, the Fundación Banco Ciudad Award, the OSDE Painting Award, and First Mention at the Fortabat Biennial.
