The anonymous popular expression: Bernardo Canal Feijóo and his conception of folklore

Abstract

One of the main issues of Bernardo Canal Feijoo (1897-1982) was configure a conception of culture based on the relationship of man with his place like a mode defining an identity. For this, he turns to the analysis of practices and popular productions of present because he considers latent in them a social and symbolic significance of a primeval past. In this case, his analysis focuses in the “folk expression”, since he considers that in them is present more intensely the art of past cultures. This paper aims to reconstruct the analysis of Canal Feijóo and reveal the proposition from them he configures a modes of the cultural identity.
